This is the tragic story of a man who had all before him – the only child of a loving and caring family, his father a well-respected bank manager, a privileged education at the elite Shore school, graduation from Sydney University in medicine, distinguished war service where he was mentioned in dispatches – to which was added a promising cricket career. Cricket at school, then Sydney University, the Sydney club, Gordon and New South Wales saw Tozer on the cusp of selection for Australia and a tour with the Australian team to England in 1921. However, life post-war, the death of his fiancée and the establishment of his medical practice, including a fateful consultation with a patient, the somewhat delusional Mrs Dorothy Mort, saw it all change …
